  1. hey joshua... nice charts.. wow all in 1.. question... do you know if you can do the same with QT?

i would love to simplify my charts and have 1 with 15 & 30 min.. right now I have them side by side...

  2. no you cannot do it with quote tracker. i have asked qt support and they said it is not something they are planning. i tried stacking the the qt charts one on top of each other, but when you move one chart, the others don't move. so it was pointless.

the good thing though, Ninjatrader is free and it can work off your td ameritrade feed. so, after scrolling through the watchlists in qt, anything that looks like it may be setting up, i pull up on the Ninjatrader chart.

if you are using multi time frame analysis, it is a great tool to have the charts stacked one on top of each other.

i will get a get a snapshot of the whole layout once i fire it up again. the old layout pic is out of date.

if you need any help with Ninja, let me know. NT is quite confusing. i had a love hate relationship until i figured it out. it won't organize like qt, but that stacked chart is a thing of beauty.

  4. email me at fozzking at gmail dot com . i will send you my skype name. then i can walk you through the setup for Ninja trader. i tried four or five times with NT and gave up. Then my buddy daytradingfool showed me how to work it properly.

first you need to be able to hook up a data feed. if you don't have a td ameritrade account you can use kinectic for free end of day use.

you need the control center open. then, file - new chart. on the top left you can type in the symbol such as FCX and hit enter. do this three times. so, fcx - enter, fcx enter, fcx enter.

now at the bottom of the box there should be three fcx in blue. click on the first fcx and put the settings to where you would like. under "period" settings, make sure it shows "type = minute" and then if the top chart you want to be 1 min, you type 1 in the value field. the other setting i change is under "data - session template". i only like to see real time hours trading on the stocks, so i change session template to "us equities rth". i don't know what setting you would want for your futures trading.

for charts 2 and 3, change the value settings to 15 or 30, or whatever you would like too see. then hit okay and the chart should pop up. if something doesn't look right, right click the chart and go to data series. this will bring you back to the window to change the settings.

let me know where you end up having trouble. i think i even had trouble just setting up a data feed. NT is such a pain, but once you get that stacked chart you'll love it.

  8. hmmm... when i changed from 15 min to daily it works... i guess that is what is meant by end of day! doh!!

  9. really. i would think that the kinetic should show the intra day action. when i get a chance, i will boot mine up and see what happens.

  10. i was able to get my stimulated trading IB account to work intraday... i wonder if it will work during market hours next week...

  11. for sure it should. my buddy dtf used to use the IB feed. it worked good. he wound up switching to the iq feed (monthly fee) because IB packages the datafeed, so you don't see every tick. for what he was doing, he needed to see each tick. for what i do, i don't.
